    We all have obstacles in our lives and these obstacles can often leave us in an out of balance state making our life more stressful than it should be. This state can make it very difficult, if not impossible, for us to move in the desired positive direction. This is where we at Living My Optimal Life can help. We help you identify and find ways to address the things, activities, or actions that are keeping you out of balance and hinders your ability to move forward in a positive direction.

    Yoga Therapy is a customized healing practice, and is based on individual evaluation and assessment. It draws from both evidence-based Western medicine and time tested traditional Yoga and Ayurvedic techniques. The therapist works together with the patient to develop a tailored sequence of yoga postures, corrective/therapeutic rehabilitative exercises, breathing and meditation, visualization, and life-style and self-care tools. The goal is to improve attitude, regain life functions and improve quality of life, and to enhance your body's capacity to heal.

    Why Yoga Therapy is Different

      

    Yoga therapy is an integrative and holistic practice of healthcare and wellness. It uses a broad range of tools to support health, promote healing and facilitate personal transformation. Modern science has begun to recognize the value of yoga’s ancient wisdom as it is being integrated into conventional medical care around the world. Yoga offers an immensely practical method for improving quality of life, psychological wellbeing, and joyful living. 

     
     

    This yoga therapy approach to the human system is both holistic and specific: it recognizes that a person’s body, breath, mind, behavior and emotions are distinct dimensions that are also deeply interconnected and influencing of one another. This holistic, yet differentiated, understanding of the human system creates a rich frame of reference from which to understand the needs and capabilities of the people with whom we work. Accordingly, in creating individual treatment protocols, this multifaceted framework provides the yoga therapist with a wide array of tools and techniques. Each of these tools is capable of addressing one specific dimension of the human system, as well as influencing the entire system as a whole. This yoga therapy framework allows the therapist to address each person’s unique needs, continually adapting the therapeutic practice to meet the person’s needs as they change over time.

    Once you schedule a session you will be sent an intake form and a Client / Practitioner agreement, i.e., Confidentially Agreement.

     
     

    During the session I will listen to what your concerns and needs are, I will ask about your lifestyle, things like the routines you follow daily, things like sleeping and waking patterns, diet, exercise, work, etc. to get a better idea of what might be going on in your life.

     
     

    I may have you do some simple movements to observe how your body currently moves.
